Summer Courses at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB)

Arts University Bournemouth (AUB)is one of the leading creative arts Universities in the UK. The university has several summer courses that will definitely enhance your creativity. A summer school is a prefect way to prepare you for university, build up your portfolio and top up your skills. You will be taught by experts in their respective fields and interact with students from all walks of life.

Their summer courses are for students aged 17 and above and will run for 3 weeks in July and August, respectively (Monday to Friday, with a total of 30 hours a week). They also have a specialist course which will run for 5 days in July.


  1. Fashion Design and Accessories:

In this course you will learn the key concepts of fashion design and have the opportunity to make your own fashion accessories. You will learn through practical workshops and study sessions about topics such as understanding colour palettes and fabric manipulation.

  1. Film Making:

This is a practical course that will enable you to learn the basics of filmmaking, covering the creative and technical aspects. You will have the opportunity to work as a film crew and playing around with different roles and gain valuable experience.

  1. Graphic Design:

In this course will help improve your design skills and your ability to communicate your creative ideas. This is great for those who want to enhance their skills in typography, poster, editorial and digital design.

  1. Photography:

This is an interesting course that will cover the essentials of creative lighting and studio techniques. It will also teach you how to create a visual story and make your own signature photographic style. You will learn through practical sessions in the university’s photographic studios with professional models.

  1. Architecture:

This short course will cover British architecture and urban design. You will participate in lectures, group projects and practical tasks, with study day trips to architectural sites such as the Stonehenge.

  1. Portfolio Preparation:

 This course will give you a great opportunity refine and add to your portfolio. You’ll also gain an understanding of what’s required in a portfolio when applying to a UK university.

  1. English plus Art, Design and Media:

This is ideal for those with Pre-intermediate levels of English and who aim to improve their English skills. You will also get to enhance your creative side with several workshops.


  1. Fashion PR and Marketing:

In this course you will gain knowledge on how fashion is communicated and promoted through fashion journalism, PR, marketing, and branding. You will learn topics such as catwalk reporting and sketching, creating your own Fashion blog and social networking for Fashion events.

  1. Animation:

You will learn the 12 principles of animation with this course. You will also gain basic knowledge on how to animate simple objects, story development and character design.

  1. Creative Events Management:

This course is great for those who want to learn how to plan and manage events in the creative industry such as festivals, fashion shows, conferences and art related events.

  1. Make-up:

This is a practical course where you will study a variety of make-up styles and special effects for film, television, theatre and commercial work. You will learn through practical workshops, demonstrations and research.

  1. Interior Design:

In this course you will learn interior design practices and learn about furnishing as well as the materials used style when designing. You will have the opportunity to study existing interior spaces, spatial planning and learn how to draw to scale.

  1. Professional Development for Teachers of Art and Design:

This is a 5 day course intended for teachers of the art, design and technology who are working in international schools. You will learn practical subjects such as Graphic Design, Photography, and Portfolio and Sketchbook Guidelines.

Fees: Their course fee varies depending on the additional services you’re planning to acquire such as University accommodation, Airport transfer (from Heathrow / Gatwick airport), and University meal (breakfast and lunch from Monday to Friday).
